About The New Continental Hotel
Welcome to The New Continental Hotel, a charming country inn nestled along the scenic shores of Greenwood Lake, New York. Our family-owned business has been dedicated to providing warm hospitality and a relaxing retreat for travelers from across the United States and around the world.
The building was originally built as a private home for a Railroad Executive in the 1880’s.
By the turn of the Century (1900), it was transformed into a boarding house where legend has it that it became a home for vaudevillians. In 1924, it was acquired by Rudolph Lellbach, a native of the Rhineland, who was responsible for turning it into a hotel with old-world charm and spirit. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Rudy”.
In 1927, Rudolph’s nephews (Rolf Lellbach and Leo Stoeberl) arrived in Greenwood Lake from Germany to work, learn the business, and add to their background of experience in European hostelries. During the decades that followed, there were many additions and renovations to the building, which today stands 3 stories high and consists of 18 guest rooms.
The outdoor grounds provide a beautiful lakeside terrace area offering a few “nook and cranny” spots where one can take in the view, simply relax, and enjoy the serenity and peace of a calming environment. We continue to welcome our guests in the tradition of providing a place of comfort and tranquility.
